Tucker Technique Cast Gold Restorations

Dentistry by
Dr. Michael C. Murat

Gold and dentistry have gone hand in hand for centuries. Since ancient Roman times, gold was used as a restorative material; and gold is still a preferred material for many people today. The reason? It’s durable, kind to opposing teeth and biocompatible. Used for inlays, onlays, full cast crowns and porcelain-to-metal restorations; gold is a standard by which many other restorative materials are compared.

At O’Brien Dental Lab, we’re serious about gold. We have specialized technicians who are skilled craftsmen, delivering the contours, occlusion and knife-edge margins you can truly appreciate. For your gold restorations, the metals we offer are Argen 58, Argen 68, Argen 77 and JRVT.

We also have technicians trained in the Tucker Technique. In the quest to perfect gold work for dentistry, Dr. Richard V. Tucker developed his now-famous Tucker Technique back in the 1960’s. His interest was not only in the quality of restorative dentistry, but in cavity design, esthetics and finish. By the early 1970’s he began mentoring a study club in his area. Today the number of Tucker Gold study clubs has blossomed to over 50 clubs throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe. At O’Brien Dental Lab, we’ve been participating in Tucker Gold Study Clubs for over 17 years, with six technicians who are trained in lab support for the Tucker Technique.
