The Course
Join O’Brien Dental Lab as it hosts Kevin Black of 3M ESPE in an informative presentation covering three vital factors in the success of indirect restoration: record taking, restorative material selection, and provisionalization. Learn about the Lava restorative system and the factors that differentiate it from other systems, as well as the critical factors for consistently achieving accurate impressions and reliable provisional restorations.

Seminar topics will include:

1. Lava All-Ceramic Crowns and Bridges
The 3M ESPE Lava Restorative System utilizes industrial CAD/CAM technology to design and mill crown & bridge structures out of medical grade zirconia. The substructures are veneered with compatible porcelain in a conventional layered buildup.

This course will describe the fascinating production process, and explain the numerous clinical benefits of Lava:

• Superior esthetics over PFMs
• Superior technology & fit
• Superior strength, translucency, & biocompatibility of zirconia
• Superior color match

In addition, attendees will learn about its seven-year clinical performance, preparation and cementation requirements, indications and contraindications.

2. Impression Troubleshooting
As a world leader in impression materials, 3M ESPE’s expertise extends to the clinical factors responsible for successful impression results. A cause-and-effect learning approach will outline the pitfalls and essential technique steps required to get consistently accurate final impressions.

Not only will you clearly understand the technique issues that contribute to impression errors, you will learn to achieve better-fitting restorations that require less seating adjustments.

3. Advanced Provisional Technique
Provisional restorations are critical to the success of the definitive restoration. The easy-to-learn techniques will improve the esthetic quality of the restoration, minimize tooth movement, and help to ensure the tissue is prepared and healthy for the final restoration.

Additional topics include the provisionalization of non-retentive preparations, increasing provisional retention, cementation alternatives, reducing post-operative sensitivity, bacterial contamination, and improving the final esthetic outcome of bridges.

Bring Your Staff
You will want to invite your auxiliary team, especially those involved with tissue retraction and the fabrication of provisionals. This course directly addresses the technique issues that lead to successful restorations.

Our Speaker
3M ESPE Laboratory Specialist, Kevin Black, has been involved with the Lava product since its inception. He will share with you his 30 years of experience trouble shooting technique issues, and give you tips for achieving successful restorations.
