We’re DAMAS Certified! 

We are proud to announce our certification by DAMAS, the Dental Appliance Manufacturers Audit Scheme. Originally developed for dental laboratories in the United Kingdom, DAMAS is modeled after ISO 9001 standards currently used throughout a variety of industries. Its purpose is to assure that compliant laboratories adhere to criteria of management practices, standardization, and documentation designed to guarantee high standards and consistent quality throughout the manufacturing process.  

DAMAS has only recently been recognized in the United States, and has been adopted by the National Association of Dental Laboratories. To achieve DAMAS accreditation, a lab must pass a third party audit inspection, a process which is administered through the NADL. Always a leader in our industry, upon certification O’Brien was the first in Oregon, the third on the West Coast, and one of only seven labs nationwide to have passed the certification specifications.  

As the FDA increases its role in oversight of dental laboratory manufacturing practices, DAMAS certification will become more and more important to dentists and laboratories. We support compliance with the DAMAS standards and are working with the NADL to encourage the same for all U.S. laboratories.
